October senior citizens' month

Is your dog over 6 years old or your cat over 8 years old? Then now is the time to pay extra attention to their health. This month is all about the 'senior'.

Older animals can develop conditions that are often not easily noticed in the early stages. We therefore offer a senior consultation (this month with 10% discount). With the senior check, we aim to conduct an examination to detect problems earlier.

Think about the joints. Sometimes you can see that walking is already a little slower, but once they get going this seems fine. Walking may already be slower or maybe your dog or cat is limping faster. These can already be signs of joint problems. Fortunately, there are plenty of remedies these days that provide support and pain relief.

We also recommend having a blood test, which includes looking at your dog's or cat's kidney values. Again, tests have been developed for this where we can see earlier in the blood how the kidneys are doing. The same applies to urine.

In cats, we also recommend a blood pressure measurement. This examination is painless and fairly quick to do at the surgery. High blood pressure is unfortunately also something we see a lot in older cats and often only discover a lot later.

Dogs and cats are very good at hiding all kinds of conditions, which is why an annual check-up is recommended.
